Get to know the individuals who are guiding our athletes both on and off the field as they continue to build on the proud legacy of Chatham Lacrosse.

Chatham is proud to have dedicated and experienced coaches who are committed to the development of every player. Our coaches bring a wealth of knowledge, passion, and expertise to the program, creating an environment where athletes can grow, compete, and excel.

 

Each coach plays an integral role in shaping our team’s success, focusing not only on skill development but also on instilling the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

HEAD COACH

CHRISTIAN SCARPELLO

Coach Christian Scarpello brings a wealth of experience and an impressive lacrosse pedigree to the Chatham Lacrosse program. A former Division I lacrosse player at Rutgers University, Scarpello played in all 60 games over his collegiate career as a defensive midfielder. During his time with the Scarlet Knights, he accumulated 37 points, 121 ground balls, and 42 caused turnovers, establishing himself as a key player in Rutgers’ defense. His leadership on the field continued to shine as he went on to compete internationally, helping Team England during the World Lacrosse Championship and finishing 5th in the world.

 

Before taking the helm as Chatham’s Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach, Scarpello served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Fairleigh Dickinson University men’s lacrosse team. In addition to his coaching role at Chatham, Scarpello continues to compete at the highest level as a professional lacrosse player. In 2022, he helped lead the Waterdogs to a National Championship in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), further cementing his status as one of the sport's elite players.

 

Since joining Chatham, Scarpello has guided the Cougars to new heights, including a Group 3 North Championship, and is deeply committed to continuing the program's legacy of success. His passion for the game and for coaching is rooted in his lifelong love of lacrosse—he’s been playing since he could walk and always knew he’d follow in his father’s footsteps to become a head coach.

Coach Scarpello’s coaching philosophy centers on empowering his players while emphasizing the fundamentals of the game. He strives to build strong, well-rounded athletes both on the field and as individuals. A key aspect of his vision for the future of Chatham Lacrosse is the development of the youth program, ensuring the next generation of Cougars is prepared to carry on the tradition of excellence that has become synonymous with Chatham Lacrosse.

ASSISTANT VARSITY COACH

SETH WADLEIGH

Coach Seth Wadleigh joined the Chatham Lacrosse coaching staff at the invitation of Head Coach Christian Scarpello, bringing his strong lacrosse background and analytical mindset to the varsity team.

 

Coach Wadleigh played lacrosse at Hanover Park High School, where he developed a deep passion for the game and a strong foundation of skills that he now passes on to Chatham’s athletes. Coach Wadleigh attended Montclair State University. Outside of coaching, he is an accomplished accountant, balancing a successful professional career while giving back to the sport he loves.

 

Recently married, Coach Wadleigh excels at managing his busy professional, family, and coaching responsibilities, and he brings the same focus and discipline to the field that he applies in every aspect of his life. His ability to break down complex plays and strategies makes him a valuable resource for players looking to improve their game, both in terms of skill and lacrosse IQ.

 

Coach Wadleigh’s leadership on the Chatham Varsity team focuses on fostering teamwork, personal growth, and a strong understanding of lacrosse strategy. His commitment to the program and his ability to balance various aspects of life serve as a model for players.

ASSISTANT VARSITY & JV COACH

LANCE O'DONOVAN

Coach Lance O'Donovan brings a wealth of coaching experience and lacrosse knowledge to the Chatham Lacrosse program. Originally from Duxbury, Massachusetts—home to one of the top high school lacrosse programs in the state—O'Donovan grew up immersed in the game, developing a strong foundation that carried him to success at both the collegiate and coaching levels.

A former player for the Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) Devils, O'Donovan competed for four years as a midfielder, serving as team Captain and earning All-MAC Freedom accolades. His time as a player was marked by a strong offensive presence and an ability to impact the game in transition. He graduated from FDU with a degree in Business Administration before transitioning to coaching. He spent three years as an assistant coach for the FDU Devils, primarily working with the offense, focusing on box drills, and coaching midfield play. His tactical knowledge and coaching expertise in these areas helped elevate the team’s offensive performance. Additionally, Coach O'Donovan has worked with a variety of youth and club lacrosse teams in Morris County, including a stint on the Morristown High School coaching staff.

With a Master’s degree in Sports Administration, Coach O'Donovan combines his passion for lacrosse with a solid understanding of sports management. His focus at Chatham is on refining the offensive strategies and skill sets of the players, while instilling discipline, teamwork, and a love for the game.

HEAD JV & ASSISTANT VARSITY COACH

BRANDEN MORALES

Coach Branden Morales brings a wealth of experience and passion to the Chatham Lacrosse program. A former high school and college player, Morales continued his lacrosse career at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), where he sharpened his skills and deepened his knowledge of the game. His experience at both the high school and collegiate levels gives him a unique perspective when coaching today's players.

In addition to his coaching role, Coach Morales is a proud member of the Passaic Fire Department, serving as a firefighter. His commitment to both his community and his athletes speaks to his strong work ethic, leadership, and ability to balance multiple responsibilities with excellence.

Morales focuses on developing well-rounded players, emphasizing the fundamentals of the game while also teaching advanced concepts and fostering a strong team mentality. His passion for lacrosse, combined with his diverse experiences, makes him an invaluable asset to the Chatham Lacrosse program, where he works tirelessly to help build the next generation of successful lacrosse athletes.

FRESHMAN COACH 

SEAN LANDOLFI

Coach Sean Landolfi brings a deep connection to Chatham Lacrosse, having been a player in the program himself. A graduate of Chatham High School (Class of 2014), Landolfi earned the Coaches Award for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to the team. He continued his lacrosse journey at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), where he played club lacrosse as a goalie and served as team captain for two seasons.

In addition to his work with Chatham Lacrosse, Coach Landolfi has a diverse coaching background. He was an assistant coach for Madison YMCA Gators basketball, and helped lead his team to a Youth Basketball League Championship in 2019. He has been a Youth Sports Coach for the YMCA since 2020, and his passion for developing young athletes continued with his role as the Chatham 8th Grade Lacrosse Coach.

Coach Landolfi took on the role of Freshman Lacrosse Coach and Assistant JV & Varsity Coach for Chatham High School, where he focuses on teaching the fundamentals of the game, instilling teamwork, and preparing the next generation of Cougars for success. He also coaches for the STEPS Elite Boys' program, where he continues to hone his coaching skills and help players reach their full potential.

FACE OFF COACH

BRIAN MITROW

Brian Mitrow is excited to join the Chatham Lacrosse team as a faceoff coach. Known for his impressive high school career, Brian was a standout faceoff specialist and player, earning multiple accolades for his performance on the field. In 2018, he was named Hunterdon County Player of the Year after leading his team with 175 ground balls and winning 65 percent of his faceoffs in his senior season.

 

Mitrow's dominance at the X earned him two-time Under Armour Underclass All-American honors, as well as first-team All-State and first-team All-Skyland Conference recognition. His hard work and dedication on the field culminated in his selection as the 2018 Hunterdon Democrat Player of the Year.

 

After high school, Brian went on to play Division 1 lacrosse at Hobart, where he continued to refine his skills and knowledge of the game. Now, with his wealth of experience, he is thrilled to pass on his expertise to the next generation of lacrosse players at Chatham.

GOALIE COACH

BRETT ANTON

Brett Anton is thrilled to bring his extensive lacrosse experience to Chatham as a goalie coach. A standout goalkeeper during his time at the University of Delaware, Brett earned four letters while playing in 25 career games with 15 starts. Over his collegiate career, he recorded a 9.50 goals against average and a .555 save percentage with 201 career saves.

 

As a senior at Delaware, Brett earned the UD Alumni Association Team MVP award. Known for his charisma and ability to ignite his defense with spectacular saves, Brett quickly became one of the team's most popular players.

 

Brett grew up in Madison and was an accomplished high school athlete at Madison High School, earning two All-State honors in lacrosse and three All-State selections in ice hockey. As a senior, he helped lead his lacrosse team to the state finals and was an honor roll student throughout high school.

 

Brett's wealth of knowledge and leadership in the goal will be invaluable to our team, and he's eager to share his expertise and passion for the game with our players.
